Energy solutions efficiency

Dedication to maximizing our energy solutions efficiency

Increasing energy efficiency is a critical weapon in the planet’s climate change combating armoury.  Every percentage increase in energy efficiency achieved represents a reduction in our dependence on fossil fuel sources of energy and a reduction in carbon emissions.

2OC’s engineers are committed to developing energy (electrical power, heat, cooling and refrigeration) producing solutions that are best in class, for every application.  Thus our iQuadgen® combined heat and intelligent power (CHiP) plants, currently being implemented at 2OC Energy Centres, depending on the exact configuration, are between 60 and 80% electrically efficient.  Depending upon the amount of district heating they supply the overall energy efficiency can be even higher. This is a world class standard – more than twice as efficient as a coal fired power station and more than 3 times as efficient as the typical car.

An iQuadgen® Hybrid CSP plant will have double the electricity output, and half the development cost, of a conventional CSP plant, reducing the development cost per MW from some $17.5 million to $5.4 million at today’s prices.

iQuadgen® Hybrid Data Centres will achieve a true Power (total energy) Utilisation Efficiency (PUE) ratio of 1.45 because of the inherent plant electrical efficiency, the distributed position of the plant (no transmission losses) and the ability to supply cold directly.

Current Data Centre ModelIn contrast, most data centres currently draw their power from the grid. This means the power obtained is subject to all of the inefficiencies of our heavily centralised power generation system.
