Carbon Footprint Analysis

Use of carbon footprint analysis keeps us focused on reducing carbon

Very early on in the implementation of 2OC’s,  we recognized the importance of using properly audited carbon footprint analysis to identify both:

  • The impact of our planned operations on carbon emissions levels, and
  • The potential for further reductions in emissions levels.

The first footprint analysis, commissioned by 2OC from E4Tech, demonstrated that the 2OC Energy Centres would achieve a minimum carbon saving of 56% when compared to the UK grid mix average.  It also showed that by encouraging 2OC’s farmers to use more efficient plant husbandry techniques, such as minimum tillage and reducing the nitrogen content of the fertilizer they use, the emissions savings could increase further.

2OC has also commissioned Best Foot Forward to undertake a footprint analysis of the energy plant building programme. We are optimistic that this exercise will identify ways in which 2OC’s contractors can reduce the emissions resulting from the build process and thus bring forward the point at which the plants achieve carbon neutrality.
