Scale of opportunity

The “market” that 2OC exploits is that formed by owners of pressure reduction stations who are typically, but not always, gas network operators such as National Grid and who see the value of turning the thermal energy of the gas flowing through their pressure reduction stations into mechanical energy to generate power.  The directors of 2OC believe this market has sufficient potential to build up to 2GW of sustainable power generating capacity by 2020.

Every gas grid in the world has the capacity to implement this technology. Indeed with the predicted growth of gas supply, utilising 2OC generation platforms at pressure reduction stations could become a cost reducing strategy for all gas network operators.  Different technology configurations are appropriate in different regulatory regimes.
