Andrew Mercer

Andrew Mercer is the founder CEO of 2OC.  Prior to starting 2OC in 2004, with fellow entrepreneur and environmentalist Michael Edge, Andrew was CEO of the Bath based leadership mentoring and coaching company, Footdown Ltd, a company he founded in 2000.

Meeting Michael in 2003 had a huge influence on Andrew’s transformation into a low carbon entrepreneur and consolidated a conversion that began with Andrew’s earlier decision to build a carbon neutral home, a goal he is now well on the way to achieving.

In moving into the world of renewable energy, and building 2OC, Andrew has brought many of the values, insights and passions that have contributed to Footdown’s success.  In particular his:

  • Belief in the power of teams to achieve much more than individuals working independently can do.
  • Recognition that the best people in an organisation are always volunteers and should be valued and treated accordingly.
  • Determination to apply the best in class thinking to all aspects of leadership and organisational behaviour.

Prior to starting Footdown he sold One Meaning, the software company he founded in 1988, to Oracle Corporation.  This followed a period in which he raised US venture capital and moved the business to California.

He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1978 and is a competitive sailor.
